Raw Shea Butter is extracted from nuts of the Karite tree, found in Central and West Africa. It generally takes 25 to 30 years for a Karite tree (Shea tree) to produce nuts that contain a substantial volume of fatty acids that make up Shea Butter and supply its unique and beneficial properties.

Pure Shea Butter is easily absorbed by the skin and provides nourishment to the skin due to the Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Vitamin F of which it contains. Unsaponifiable fat is found in Raw Shea Butter at levels higher than most other vegetable-based butters (up to 12%). Raw Shea Butter also contains high levels of Cinnamic Acid which acts as a natural sunscreen (nearly equivalent to SPF 4).
