Avocado Oil is readily absorbed by the skin and is a carrier of the vitamins it contains; Vitamins A, D and E. It has excellent emollient properties making it ideal for mature skin and skin that is dehydrated or sun damaged. It also helps to relieve the dryness and itching of eczema and psoriasis. Furthermore, Avocado Oil contains Proteins, Lecithin, Potassium, Beta-Carotene and more than twenty percent essential unsaturated fatty acids. The fatty acids contained are Palmitic, Palmitoleic, Stearic, Oleic, Linoleic and Linolenic. Avocado Oil is also high in Sterolins which are reputed to reduce age spots and aid in healing process of sun damaged skin and scars.

In a study done at the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1991, it was found that Avocado Oil significantly increased the amount of Collagen in the skin. Collagen is responsible for skin strength and elasticity while the loss of Collagen leads to wrinkles that accompany aging.
