Our Australian Black Clay is sun-dried hematite clay that comes from the southern parts of Australia. Containing large amounts of iron and oxygen, this hematite clay is very nourishing to the skin and works great as a cleanser.

Australian Black clay is a common additive to naturally color soap and cosmetics. It is considered safe for the skin and is recommended for individuals with oily skin and individuals that have problems with acne.

Recommended Usage: As a mask, use once per week. For individuals with acne problems, a mask may be used up to 2 times per week.

It is important to note, Australian Black Clay (Hematite Clay) may stain skin, therefore, mixing Black Clay with lighter colored clays to reduce the potential of staining is recommended. For this, Citrus Moon Kaolin White Clay is a good choice. Mix together 80% White Clay and 20% Black Clay for example (20% Maximum). Also, use caution if adding Australian Black Clay to bath water due to its potential to stain tubs if too much is added. When mixing the clay with water to make a mask, please mix in a non-corrosive bowl such as glass, porcelain or stainless steel to avoid contamination.
